About us
Who are Canary House Clearances?
We're a family-run business based in Norwich, clearing and moving homes across Norfolk and Suffolk for over 20 years. When you call, you speak to the people who'll turn up and do the job, not a call centre.
Which areas do you cover?
We're based in Norwich and cover the whole of Norfolk and north Suffolk. For larger jobs we'll travel further across East Anglia.
Are you licensed to take waste away?
Yes, we're fully licensed waste carriers. We reuse and recycle as much as we can and dispose of the rest legally at licensed sites. Nothing is ever fly-tipped.
Do I need to be there on the day?
Not necessarily. Many clients, especially executors, families who live away and landlords, arrange key access with us. We'll let you know as soon as the job is done.
Pricing & booking
How much will my job cost?
Every job is different, so we price each one individually based on how much there is, access and the time it'll take. We'll give you one clear, fixed price before we start, with no hidden costs.
Are quotes free?
Yes. Quotes are always free and there's no obligation to go ahead.
Can I get a quote from photos?
Yes. WhatsApp or email us a few photos and your postcode and we can usually give you a price the same day. For bigger jobs we may suggest a quick visit.
Will the price change on the day?
No. The price we agree before we start is the price you pay for the job we quoted for. If you'd like us to take extra items on the day, we'll agree any change with you before we do.
How do I book?
Call us, send photos on WhatsApp or fill in the quote form. Once you're happy with the price, we'll agree a date and time that suits you.
Waste & recycling
What happens to the things you take away?
We reuse and donate what we can, recycle what can be recycled, and take anything left to licensed disposal sites. Landfill is always the last resort.
Do you pass on items that are still usable?
Yes. Good furniture and household items are passed on to be used again wherever possible, rather than thrown away.
Is there anything you can't take?
Some items need specialist disposal, such as asbestos, chemicals, gas bottles and some paints. Let us know what's there when you ask for a quote and we'll tell you what we can take.
How do I know my waste won't be fly-tipped?
We're fully licensed waste carriers and everything we collect goes to licensed sites. If you're ever unsure about a waste carrier, always ask to see their licence.
House Clearances

It depends on the size of the property and how much is in it. We'll tell you roughly how long it will take when we quote, and agree a date that works for you, the solicitor or the estate agent.
What happens to the contents of the house?
We reuse and donate as much as we can, recycle what can be recycled, and take anything left to licensed disposal sites. We're fully licensed waste carriers, so everything leaves your property legally.
